In the year 1848, in the city of Shanghai, China, a baby was born to a poor family. This baby would grow up to be one of the most famous Westerners in all of China, and would eventually play a role in bringing about a new era of Sino-American relations. His name was Jack (or Jiang) Westward and this is his story.
As a young man, Jack worked odd jobs to make ends meet and help support his family.
Why is it called Shanghai Noon?

One is that it’s possible the movie was named after the popular song “Shanghai Noon” by British singer and songwriter Cat Stevens.
